When applying for kitchen assistant jobs in care homes you will need to be comfortable working alongside our elderly residents and understanding their various needs such as Dementia care homes etc. Our residents often have allergies or special dietary requirements or needs in regards to the texture of the food given to them. They may need a soft diet or pureed to accommodate their physical needs or diagnosis.
Training on how to present these varying diets would be given. Part of kitchen assistant jobs in care homes involves assisting the cook/chef in providing a high standard of catering service on a daily basis.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure that work areas are kept in a clean and hygienic state and that good practices are observed in the cooking process to the standard of the food hygiene regulations.
